Granny’s Pound Cake

Granny’s Pound Cake

  1. Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Cream 1 cup margarine (2 stices sticks), 1/2 cup crisco shortening, add 3 cups sugar and 5 eggs. Beat until fluffy, appx. 4 minutes (this is the secret to a good pound cake)
  3. Add 3 cups cake flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 cup milk, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 tsp. lemon flavoring, 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring, 1/4 tsp. mace. Beat only to mix.
  4. Pour into a well greased 10″ tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for appx. 1 hour and 25 minutes or until done.

Handwritten note: This is a cake I cooked for your mother and her law school friends. They liked the four flavoring.

** Note: a “tube pan” is also known as a bundt cake pan **
