Amalgamation Cake

  • 3t. baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 1/2 t vanilla
  • 8 egg whites
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. butter (2 sticks)
  • flavoring

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Sift flour and baking powder together several times. Add the flour & milk, a little at a time, to the butter and sugar mixture. Beat well after each addition. Add the flavoring and fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites. 3 layers, 350 F.

Note: I have no idea what the “flavoring” would be. Vanilla extract?

Filling

  • 8 egg yolks
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cups butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 lb walnuts
  • 1 lb raisins
  • 1 box coconut

Beat the egg yolks very light and mix with the butter and sugar. Cook in double boiler until it is good icing. Have the other ingredients (nuts, etc.) mixed in a bowl and pour the egg yolks over them. Mix well and spread on cake.
